Great survivor game, and that's what it is. People aren't used to this genre because there is very few of them among the flood of FPS and RPG games out there. People are so infatuated with "Souls" type games that their comparisons are tunnel visioned with that style of gameplay. I played the first last of us again recently before I played the second, just to antiquate myself with story/survivor gameplay so I wouldn't be disappointed with the style, since all I've been playing recently was Sekiro and Nioh 2. But again everyone has their opinion, and since this title has been so long awaited, people probably was expecting to be the best game ever, but lost sight of what it is, a second part to the first.
