If you want a documentary that simply sends the message how great he ‘was’ then you will probably like this. This skirts around the issue of what he is like now and makes no reference to his current medical condition. In fact, this takes his genuine fans for granted. They have a genuine concern and interest in how he is doing 8 years on from his accident. Instead, the audience is not allowed to see or witness any element of the results of that accident.
Whilst his wife is protective, she, and the production team, do not allow any insight into how he is now. This potentially is a big attraction to his many fans. Instead, the glory days are given but nothing else.
Avoid. It’s frustrating, disingenuous and disrespectful to his lifelong fans. Schumacher had courage. His wife and family do not. They do not allow us to share in his past glory or fight for his future. A safe documentary but sadly, nothing more.
