I feel its an underrated Gem. We have so few movies made on Pre-Mughal Indian History. Asoka is a must watch for its intense portrayal of the Mauryan period. It unravels the pages of history with a subtle charm without ever getting dull. The acting of the ensemble cast can be described in one word - REFRESHING. In the begining there is a disclaimer thats says it is not 100% historical documentation and has lots of fiction. In a word no attempt to override history yet it gives us the story of the love and loss that such a great emperor must have felt on the battlefield where millions died.
