Honestly, disappointed at the changes that were made from book to screen. They seemed unnecessary.. considering the book is written in the layout of a script/ documentary. It’s also not like it’s a movie where you only have so much time to get the story in. They turned it into a show, giving plenty of time to keep details in. They literally left out a whole character for what? And had the one guy go to college instead of the war? What was the point in that. The first episode was half the book in hyper-speed.
The whole time I kept thinking how this didn’t feel true to the time period it is set in. It felt like a GenZer’s interpretation of what they think the 70s are like. Throwing the whole vibe off.
The acting and casting was great. Just the overall production fell very short. I’m not usually one to bash shows or movies for not staying true to the books. But I had high hopes for this one and it was a real let down.
