This time line is AFTER the major conflicts of the First 6 movies .The New Republic still has conflict with remaining Empire forces trying consolidate areas of interstellar space as theirs, so many story lines can work well . The "Mandalorian " character seems to be from the remnants of a civilization the Emperor Palpatine's forces destroys ending their way of life except in small groups.The Janko Fett & son Bobba Fett. had use of purchased Mandalorian armor in their life time sequence, it was known but not the existence of that civilization that made it or where in the universe their planet existed perhaps along the most Outer Rim area.
