If you've read the short story, then you are extremely disappointed in this film. Although there are several amazing lines of dialog taken from the short story, the moral question of being "a beast at bay" or a murderer is completely absent in this film and instead it turns into saving a damsel in distress. Her presence ruins the entire film. "TMD" is man vs man - "Outdoor chess" as General Zaroff declared, not impromptu escape racing while dragging a ball and chain.
