This movie is a blue black film, means shades of blue and black dominates screen. Don't know why people make movies where light is so elusive. Movie is confusing , when past when present , one has to make effort. Story is good , screenplay and music is earthy but direction is so west influenced. Anvita dutt like directors don't have earthy roots , very much influenced by foreign movies. Some earthy director like Vishal Bhardwaj could have made it a master piece

It starts well but sinks by the end. Did not like the second half, revenge with such a cruelty is appalling. Freddy 3/5 from my side

One of the finest movies in recent times

Treat to watch the movie with so many melodious songs . The movie is of my parents' generation , yet I liked it . Nimmi , leela chitnis , bharat bhusan did justice to their role

other than dilip kumar fans , no body can like such a boring movie. Thin storyline stretched , Amiya chakrovarthy has made some beautiful films , but this is certainly not one of those.

The film is commendable ,and must have been brilliant and new theme based at the times of its release. Many films after this have shown the similar theme like Tapasya in more convincing manner. Ekta kapoor serials have leading ladies like the heroine, dutiful and sacrificing. Not over dramatic , no preachy dialogues and only one wicked character who is a drug addict, the film is watchable

Beta is a treat for Madhuri lovers. She dominated Anil Kapoor , despite the storyline favored Anil's character. Aruna Irani was brilliant as usual , songs were good, and all popular songs were 'inspired' from other. 2 from Telgu and one from Pakistan. Anupam Kher in 90's was all overacting.

i liked it very much when I first saw it. But not now. Music is excellent , Anupam kher was perhaps nominated for comic actor, but he appears very loud now. Pooja Bhatt was such a natural actress and still instills freshness in the movie
