Terrible, I don’t know what the fuss is. Leaden clunky writing. Really awful book.

Incredibly evocative time capsule to a pre-Pret A Manger London. The soot from the bombed out London slum land this novel inhabits reads so viscerally you’d think the words were typed in coal. It really is a seminal book that documents the very beginnings of a wave of youth oriented vitality that transformed London, the UK and, by extension, the world. A masterpiece in every sense of the word.
