Written with flair and funny as hell, Amory captures the societal zeitgeist of the times perfectly - that is, 1960 and before. I picked it up as a societal expedition along the lines of Digby Baltzell's PHILADELPHIA GENTLEMAN and wound up convulsing in laughter. Densely packed with what we might say is (now somewhat) useless information, it's still a fun read and worth some of your time.
