Grew up with these movies, but never realised Meryl streep could sing and had the option of being an actress as well as a singer.
I noticed when mamma Mia came out a lot of viewers asked if Meryl streep could sing or if she was mimicking?
Judging by this movie Meryl could have easily been as big in the music industry as Tammy Wynett.
There are a bunch of performers that seem to be not only great at acting as they are at singing.
Meryl was a huge favourite of mine growing up and well into my adult years. I say was because I don't see her in movies anymore. She earned her rest. She was in a great deal of iconic movies and gave a phenomenal performance every time. More than a great asset to a movie that would not have been what it was without her and her star-studded cast members had any of them been absent. Also she is female and made her mark at a time when it was tougher for females to make their mark.
I also love that not only is she a mother of daughters of a similar age to what Meryl was during her stardom, but her girls look exactly as she did and still does. What an incredible mother to have and be proud of, and lead you on your way. Be it acting or simply just being.
On a side note: I discovered this movie after watching encounters of the third kind. I am a huge Jaws fan and there for me will sadly be another movie as great as Jaws one for all the obvious reasons and personal ones.
So I searched Richard Dyfuse movie because he is also a phenomenal performer in his craft, but also with like Meryl Streep very real and put who they are into their craft because that's talent. I have to say the role he played in this movie makes me wonder if he chose parts that he could relate to or if individuals in the acting profession casted him in certain roles because they could see him as an individual and felt he would perform well in roles better suited to what he understood personally. Not saying he was empathetic of drug addiction because I have no way of knowing if he had any experience of that. I'm referring to his struggles with mental health. I would like to say personality disorders, but that label has been assigned to a specific trait. His experience with mania and finding out about yourself and embracing who you are.
I often think that had my very large family been thrust into the world of performing arts my siblings and I would have been a Mardi gras of disaster in epic proportions and most of us would be dead now 😂 except me because I realised as a child to blend. It gets you when you are older though and living a mediocre life. So who knows if maybe I would have had to endure those struggles sooner. My siblings definitely would have definitely gone before me though because you must embrace who you are and see it as potential not a stigma, but a very intriguing attribute. Tame the chaos within you in order to look at it and the gifts it holds.
