I admit the first few chapters felt a little difficult to get through. Like… what is even happening here? But the more Henry reveals in the little moments she retells about the past of Harriet and Wyn’s relationship, the more things start to make sense. All you can do is root for them with all your heart when you realize why it took so long for them to find their way back to each other. I only wish we had gotten to know their friends better, but I suppose that is the point of the story. Living a life where you push people away because you’re afraid to be vulnerable and admit that you depend on the love of your people leads to a really boring and frustrating life. The author sort of makes you live through this WITH Harriet. I find that fear of vulnerability very relatable and to see the truth burst down all the walls between all the relationships featured in the book is so satisfying, even if it’s brief.
