Intelligent and respectful with strong characterisation. This show not only tells the story of a very sad period in Australia’s history, it shines a light on our unique public health response to a global pandemic. Musical interludes transport us back to the 80s with lyrics that mirror the desperation of those affected. Sad yes, but also surprisingly uplifting with a focus on the power of community. Bonus focus on Australian politics, culture and celebrity in the 80s and early 90s with great wardrobe and sets.
