It's unfortunate that these shows have limited funds for production. They simply can't spend the money or take the time for find actors that at least look like the historic characters. So, we get actors that bear absolutely zero resemblance. We get a 20-something female Civil War medic played by a woman in her mid-forties. A tall, brown-haired actor who looks like Christian Bale playing the shorter, square-headed, blond Dwight Eisenhower. And now that the pattern of selecting actors is short shrift by design, no attempt to resemble history is standard fare.

When science fiction becomes silly it's no longer fascinating or even interesting because one is fighting back uncontrolled mirth. The Hollow Earth idea in this film is one of those ideas, so silly, that it ruins the show. Science fiction is going to suspend reality but there's a limit. When you propose that we've been wrong about the molten core of the earth and it's really a temperate region with mirrored mountain ranges and jungles you've not just suspended reality. You've suspended the intellectual interest in going any further.
