As someone who didn’t read the books, I went into Uglies not knowing what to expect and wow, I was blown away! This movie was everything I hoped for and more. The world-building and storyline were so engaging that I felt like I was discovering something fresh and exciting, even as an adult. Joey King was absolutely perfect as Tally; she captured the character’s depth and growth so well. And Peris? He was portrayed exactly as I imagined a best friend caught between two worlds. The film stayed true to its message about beauty and identity, delivering some thought-provoking moments without ever feeling preachy. What really surprised me was how far the movie went in terms of plot, getting into deeper themes from later books, but I wasn’t mad at it at all. It kept me hooked, and now I’m tempted to dive into the series myself! The visuals were stunning, and the soundtrack just added to the experience, making it even more immersive. Whether you’ve read the books or not, this movie is such a fun ride and absolutely worth watching. A total win for me!
