Mr Morale and the Big Steppers is Kendrick Lamar's most personal and raw album hes ever made. Lamar goes into great detail about his personal traumatic experiences and covers significant topics throughout the album: Indulging in sex and luxuries to grieve for his loved ones, cancel culture, his struggles of being a father, the toxic relationships he was in, transgenderism, his mother being sexually abused when he was young, and most importantly, trying to find his peace of mind amidst the dark clouds looming above him.
The album plays out as if Kendrick's in a therapists office, as he vents his frustration and guilt for his past mistakes. The album presents itself as bold, daring and risky whilst simultaneously feeling refreshing and reinventing
This is one of Kendrick Lamars most insightful releases to date, and it just so happens to be very enjoyable.
