If you like the original source material for Ghost in the Shell, don't bother with the live action movie. Not only is the whole thing white washed to death, but it has no charm of the original. The studio, director and writers clearly did not understand the source material or just didn't care, because there is very little of the soul of the original anime in it. It focus more on the action and CGI then the story. Then there is the spoon feeding going on, their is nothing like being talked down to, as if we the audiences are too stupid to understand what's happening. The Major is by far the biggest disappointment in this, in both the original anime and gits Stand Alone Complex she never felt inhuman or like a machine. But in the live action she does.
