I was relieved that the movie was funny if that makes sense. This is one of those movies that remind you that Eddie Murphy’s talent level for comedy is unparalleled. He took from Pryor without stealing and made that Redd Foxx to Richard Pryor style his own and accessible to the biggest audiences a comedian has ever seen and he did it on the biggest stages starting at age 19. No one else ever has had his timing and quick wit plus the ability to do characters and impersonations so well he could make a living with that alone especially polished at age 19. So good to see this movie was actually good!! Bob Seger and Harold Faltermeyer and Glen Frye highlight an 80s soundtrack that worked again 4 decades. Bronson Pinchot has not aged and is still annoying but funny. Kevin Bacon solid as the antagonist and Rosewood and Taggert sublime. Well done on this one. 4/5 because it’s a sequel and a part 4 and it isn’t flawless but it’s done well. Paul Reiser also back and also playing an evolved character from the original and he plays it well. No real weak points in this one. The cartel lighting up downtown Beverly Hills was a stretch but a good action sequence. Thanks for not messing this one up!
