I found “Creator” moving and profound. I disagree with reviews (Ebert, etc) that say it speaks to the notion of ‘should AI be allowed to integrate in our society?’. This movie portrays a society where AI, in true Asimov-fashion, has achieved emotion and is already fully integrated into society. A coding error is the excuse for those who are against AI to start a war between two philosophical extremes, and the aggressors behind NOMAD show mercy to no-one, creature or construct, in their path.
This movie poses the question: is it right for humans (homo sapiens, that is) to rule all other species, as well as constructed AI beings, and have the supreme right to designate which beings are worthy of autonomy and life itself? An essential question for our times, and one that we have, to our detriment, answered badly throughout history.
I loved this film. See it on as big a screen as possible! But when it eventually comes to the small screen, this will be as essential to my collection as Star Wars, LOTR, and Harry Potter. A Truly Excellent film!!!
