Oh dear. The promise of early proto house tempted me. Sadly though the record is only worth listening to for I can"t turn around (yes the original of love can't turn around) and Jack your Body. Of perhaps historical interest but some history is perhaps best laid to rest.

A stunning mellow masterpiece. Listening to this album is like floating through clouds. Dreamlike folk, or is it jazz, or blues. These genres fuse perfectly, intrrrupted by occasional rock tones. Lovely.

A gem of a record. You can come to Nick Drake from many routes. For me, it was from jazz, then Joni. The delicate folk here is simply beautiful. River Man, Cello Song are haunting but perhaps you've heard them. Then there's the rolling Man in a Shed, the epic Fruit Tree. It goes on. Perhaps they'll remaster this some day and it will either unveil new layers or lose some of its mystery. Just bliss.

Great slice of 87 pop. The Madonna tracks shine, but could it be Scritti Politti that steal the show. Sadly one or two tracks are a bit anonymous, but still worth listening through. Joyously dated.

Superb and timeless. It's way outside my normal taste in music, and I overlooked this for many years as a result. Yet this chimes with the smoothness of Sade, the soul jazz of the late 70s, all through a mid 80s soft rock lens. Simply wonderful. And best on vinyl of course.

Awesome. Best since Lovesexy. From the lushness of Gold to the soulful eye hate u , this 90s album could fit alongside some of Prince's 80s classics.
