You can't compare Serkis' version with the Disney version - it's meant for 2 completely different audiences. As an adult I much preferred Mowgli vs Disney's version. I agree it's not for kids and it's not "cute" in any way. That being said, I didn't have a problem at all with the CGI - I think they did a great job and the voice acting was incredibly enjoyable. Great cast - including the boy who played Mowgli. As amazing as the actors are in their respective roles, I would REALLY love to see Hollywood use regular voice actors (vs A-list Hollywood actors) for these roles - there are so many excellent ones out there that are being overlooked for the sake of $$$ (Hollywood cast sells the movie - I get it... but why ignore the lesser-known talents?). This needs to change.
