A remake indeed
A lot of aspect really made this game the best one I have in my small PS4 games collection. The redesign, the retelling and the new combat system makes it feel nostalgic and fresh at the same time.
The difficulty is adjusted and designed well. For a casual gamer myself, I feel even in the normal difficulty this game is challenging as players are directed to master the combat system which is later chapters makes the battle feel much more intense and fun. For that I am giving the devs thumbs up.
[MINOR SPOILER AHEAD]
the writing too is pretty good, for a remake. A lot of dialogues rewritten to fit the language of the modern society. As it is announced before, the game comprise of the first few hours of the FFVII (PS1) that has been extended, developed and expanded into a very decent around 33 hours of exploration and story telling. These expansions helped a lot of character development that was never been in the PS1 game, making us feel things and sympathized with the smaller roles of the game. And boy oh boy the ending, it leads to uncertain continuation now and the way it is told makes a lot of new concept so much fun for the story going ahead.
The redesign, I love all of the redesigned characters, especially the playable characters. The model looks much more fluid than it used to be in their CGI scenes back in Advent Children or Crisis Core or Dirge of Cerberus, as those were made more than 10 years ago. Characters such as Barrett, Aerith and even Tifa has major changes to their clothes, shoes and even accessories on their hands, ears and even faces. Midgar was also depicted to be a little bit different that what we had in Crisis Core with some color changes and new details added.
Overall the experience I had in this Remake surely paid off and I can't wait for the obvious DLC coming up. I can't wait what they will deliver to us and how the story will progress from here on out, as I mentioned before...it WILL be different than that of PS1 story.
