I have never watched the original movies or read the book so I think this is as unbiased as a review can be. Personaly I think it was a good horror film that didn't take itself too seriously yet didn't pander with the usual random comedy. Overall the story moves along well and keeps you guessing. There are some plot holes and just things that I wish would be elaborated on but nothing that ruins the movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone that's tired of the usual jump scare and predictable horror movies. Gets a 7.5/10 fr me.
