In Her Place is a film in which to lose yourself. Pun intended. Feeling invisible in her own life, the main character is able to slip into the life and world of the independent writer she both admires and abhors at the same time. It is well written and acted.

Rather than solving the crime in one hour, this show explores in depth the consequences of crimes committed from the viewpoint of the victims, the criminals and those in the justice system. The judges take an extremely proactive stance in their interactions with juvenile offenders.

Though not a big fan of Westerns, this cast including Idris Elba, Jonathan Majors, Regina King, LaKeith Stanfield, Delroy Lindo and Zazie Beetz, won me over in the first 15 minutes. Fast paced action, visually stunning, even with its violence, is rounded out by realistic dialogue and enhanced with its brilliant musical score.

Just when you think you’ve figured it out, plot twists will keep you guessing. The last episode is worth waiting for.

Because the program centers around a family of lawyers (barristers), the family dynamics make each episode intensely dramatic. I just started watching the series, but became totally hooked in the first five minutes of season 1. Like a good book you cannot put down, this brilliant show will draw you in and make you care.

Frankly, I was surprised I hadn’t heard that much about Marcella. From the first to last episode, this show drew me in with its compelling storylines, characters and action-packed drama. So much more than a whodunnit, the lead character Marcella, played brilliantly by actress Anna Friel is fascinating to watch.

Although not an easy breezy filmgoing or watching experience, this film, with its dreamlike, surreal qualities will leave you with more questions than answers.

I’d give this sequel a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It is visually stunning. As far as plot, maybe 2 stars. I liked the original much better. It was over 3 hours long, and I found myself drifting off in parts, as the dialogue was not compelling enough to justify over 3 hours. Having said this, compared to Marvel movies, this did have some substance besides the complex animation.
