I enjoyed the fast and furious movies, even watched Tokyo drift but I'll be honest, this movie bored me.
***Spoilers ahead***
The one liners aren't funny and the chemistry between Johnson and Statham barely flickers.
The action is there but it's "out there". Some of the decisions make zero sense. Why not hide Hattie for 30 minutes somewhere else on the island Instead of exactly where the bad guys are going?
Hobbs grabbing onto a chain connected to a helicopter without ripping an arm off, trying to bring down said chopper even though Hattie is in it, it inevitably crashes and she somehow wakes up beside it slightly dazed for a few seconds.
I'm all for suspending disbelief for entertainment but it still needs to have some stakes, a viable threat or be somewhat grounded by reality.
If I have to give this movie a score, it would be around 4/10. I found myself sighing through a lot of it.
Ryan Reynolds should have been in a lead role along with Kevin Hart....both were sadly underused.
To the folks that say "Statham and Johnson are steering the franchise now"....I would argue that they tried to but veered into a ditch.
