I'm an avid fan of the books. Read and listened to them many times. I was looking forward to the series from the moment Sony acquired the rights. And then they had to make it in 8 episodes. They changed the core of the whole world. Magic is far from being that common. And it's not supposed to be visible. They changed the sexuality of key characters, therefore changing the story. They took liberties that border blasphemy for a fan like me. I do not believe that the screenwriters understood what this world is about. My family, who did not read the books, have a hard time understanding the world. This means that the screenwriters did not do a good job at explaining it. But I don't blame them. I would be hardpressed as well if all I had was 8 episodes for the first book. The producers suck big time. They are responsible for these restrictions. Except for the last season, HBO had the right of it. They properly expressed the world of GoT. Sony and Amazon did not do justice to WoT. The only reason why I gave them 3 stars, is because the action is still good. I'm not looking for the books to be adapted as is. But I would have expected something much closer to the books than what they did.
