Honestly i WAS hesitant to watch this show, because I have been a major adorer of shows, films, cartoons, toys, comics, books, music from the late 70s, all though out the 80s, and very early 90s... I am now 46, I basically had checked out of modern times and kept myself rooted in the good ol days lol. I am joking, to an extent 😂. I'm now 46 years old, and STILL a gigantic fan of all things 'nerdy" (lol). I have been managing well respected local comic book/sequential art/vintage toy stores for over 2 decades... Directly part of the process that grades the condition of books/toys to determine final pricing of all items that hit the display shelves, as well as online. Not to mention my heavy involvement of creating my own lifelong personal collection. I say these things merely with hope to offer a trusted review/rating wherever I may turn up in review sections. I don't do so often, but certain things I just can't help it.
believe nothing compares to the shows etc of the "older days", and I am not sure that anything ever will. I grew up with the original Battlestar Galactica, so it's hard for me to open up to modern renditions of original shows/films that tend to use the tired formula of making everything full of death and horror as a way to add "depth" to stories of yesteryear . That did not happen with this modern version of the show! This newer Battlestar is incredible! It certainly IS super tense story nearly at all times , that's for sure lol. A HEAVY ride. But it makes sense, the cast is taken though vast deep space, pitted against their own creations that have turned against the whole of humanity. That's heavy, so why wouldn't the show be? That very same cast dove headfirst into their roles, ya can tell they lived and breathed the screenplay. Each character beloved in their own way. The story blew my mind with it's uniqueness. So many creative ideas, laced with a vast knowledge of the art of war, as well as the science of sci-fi storytelling. This show is right up there with FIREFLY with having created it's own vibe. It's a different vibe than the immortal FIREFLY show, but both are amazing with how they put me right above into the auara of the the cast and story the moment I go back to watching episodes, now matter how long it's been in the time between. I say FIREFLY is #1A, and Battlestar is #1B. That's saying alot. This entire show gave perfect creedence to the original show, all while making it's own journey. It's a heavy ride ... But also has so many moments of loving comedic relief ... You should watch it ASAP.
