This book offers so many wonderful insights into things we can do and choices we can make in our gardens to effect positive change. They are really simple, down to earth and inexpensive suggestions that I'm thoroughly enjoying experimenting with. Kate explains things very simply which makes sustainable gardening within easy reach and leaves you feeling good that you can make a big difference from your own backyard.

Time has not diminished the beauty of this story. It is a wonderful novel covering the life and loves of an independent woman in an era when female independence was often scoffed at. The main character Delie Gordon has much to overcome but she finds peace & reprieve in painting her surroundings as her paddle steamer, the Philadelphia, traverses the mighty Murray river. With the debate about the management of the Murray /Darling rivers still a hot topic in 2020 it was interesting to read about part of its history from the perspective of the main character of the book, Delie Gordon. A really enjoyable read.
