completely goes against the theme of the first movie. The first cube movie follows a group of protagonist. That's it. We know nothing about the characters that isn't told in dialogue or picked up over the film. More people die as a result of the infighting, the intense anger of the characters of the film, making the idea of traveling with other people infinitely more scary than the cube with a bunch of traps in it. In this film, no character besides Dodd sees any semblance of development, even then, right after he's killed so it goes nowhere. Even still, the best parts of the film is where it's a genuine cube movie with these characters we know nothing about (except rains because we were just dying to know her backstory). characters are killed off way too often and far too fast to begin to understand who they are as a person. The film gives no breathing room, trying an impossible balancing act between the characters in the cube and the ones monitoring them, which only causes the film to feel more unfocused and messy. in conclusion, cube zero follows none of the rules that made cube 1 a great film. No mystery, no character development and shows what happens when you escape the cube.
