I just saw the directors cut with the original Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack and it felt like I was seeing this for the very first time. I enjoyed this film in it's theatrical release version, but did not love it. It was shorter than intended and the soundtrack was a mess. But now having seen the brilliant directors cut, I have had to elevate it to a favorites status. This film is unquestionably a work of art. I urge anyone who has not seen the directors cut to do so. Film making at it's best...so glad to have had the opportunity to see it as it was intended to be seen.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

I am really baffled by all of the bad reviews. I had a smile on my face from the first moment to the last. This is a thoroughly entertaining, wonderfully escapist movie adventure. It's one of my favorites of the franchise and deserving of a great deal more respect. If you're looking for something serious, and deeply meaningful, than this is not for you. But if you simply want to be wonderfully entertained for a couple of hours and get a smile onto your face, then this is a perfect choice. I suspect that this entries reputation will rise over the ensuing years, and that it will eventually get the appreciation that it actually deserves. The critics be damned.
