It is worth the watch. It was emotionally heavy for me seeing the trials and tribulations she dealt with, but she sang and sang her heart out. A lot of the reviews you'll see complain Cynthia Erivo doesn't look like her or sound like her....excuse me she isn't Aretha! She does a great job as she is a great actress. If you're looking to hear all the songs she's famous for you won't this series seems to aim to display the obscure parts of her life. You see the hardships, struggles, hypocrisy, disappointments, etc. This isn't the documentary you expect with clean lines and a sparkling image, but it's the nitty gritty. The ugly parts. The betrayals. I felt like this made her more human because you always only see and hear the end result but not how they got there and this gives you the behind scenes in a real and relatable way.
