The movie was honestly great! I thought it was well done.
1) I really loved the casting done of Rue, she is exactly how I imagined Rue.
2) Worldbuilding was fantastic! District 12 and Capitol were completely well made. Especially when you compare the two, the Capitol is so bright and modern while District 12 looks so old and run down.
3) EFFIE'S APPEARANCE! I love how she was turned into. She was described okay in the books but this is exactly how I imagined Capitol fashion to look like, bright and colorful.
4) The outfits Katniss wears were beautiful, I literally could not imagine it done better.
5) That scene in the training room where Rue steals a knife tricking the careers was amazing. Not only does it shows that Katniss acknowledges Rue and foreshadows they'll become close, it shows that Thresh kind of has a bond to Rue as well.
6) The scenes with President Snow were amazing. We basically get no information on him and the scenes just help push the plot.
Now for the cons
1) I wish there could be more moments between Rue and Katniss. Katniss grew close to Rue.
2) When Rue dies, there's no riot in their district, instead District 11 pulls up enough money to buy them bread. This is a sign respect and gratitude because District 11 is extremely poor and starving is not uncommon there.
3) The mutts were extremely important in the books and terrifying to Cato, Peeta and Katniss because their eyes were made of the fallen tributes.
4) During Rue's death, Katniss says that she won't say "it's gonna be okay" because she knows that Rue is smart enough that she's gonna die and in the movie she does the exact opposite.
5) As much as I love Jennifer Lawrence's portrayal of Katniss, she is actually supposed to be a POC.
6) Not only are they supposed to be younger, Peeta is supposed to be taller than Katniss to show that he's stockier and more well fed while Katniss is short and malnourished.
7) Katniss didn't mention how Haymitch was in the Hunger Games and was the only winner from district 12 until now.
8) Peeta gave her the bread when she was eleven, they look the exact same age as they do in the entire movie.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie and it was a great adaptation.
