Having lost my own son to suicide at age 13 in 2016. I discovered it was due to the lack of seriousness about his clinical depression due to his age.
So, I was deeply touched by the movie because it exampled the seriousness we must take when a teenager is experiencing divorce, loss of a loved one, or trauma, etc.
Youths are more susceptible to mental health issues due to their lack of cognitive development. And they are not as resilient as adults think. Listen to them, hear them, and seek professional help. And most certainly, if they are diagnosed with a mental health issue, listen to the mental health professionals even if you think they are being dramatic.
In addition, this was much better than 13 Reasons Why because it shows that not every child that dies by suicide is a bully victim. And those "teenage blues" may be depression.
