After 4 seasons Evil is being cancelled by Paramount+ even though it is a popular show with actors who genuinely enjoy being on it. The first couple seasons have moved to Netflix but Netflix doesn't have a good track record either so one of the most fun shows on streaming right now is likely done.
The show is clever and well made and talks openly about evil on the modern world and how technology like the internet has given evil a way to communicate and feel less alone.
The show centers around three "assessors" for the Catholic Church who travel around the country trying to see if someone's problem is medical, scientific or spiritual. The first season which appeared on CBS was case of the week and often had cases resolved pretty quickly but left one little detail open for debate. When the show moved to Paramount Plus it became more long form and began asking the question about the price we all pay when good people letting evil into their lives.
The show is brilliant in that it doesn't take the obvious roll. Characters that could have been written as as stereotypes are given depth and just when you think the story will go one way it goes the other.
This is a fun, brilliant and spooky show that you should watch. Highly recommended.
