Halcyon Gaynor-Johnson

Inside out 2 was an interesting movie, but I wouldn't watch it again. The funny scenes and jokes were well written and I laughed, but those lighthearted scenes were scarce. This film is a sad coming of age story and it was especially hard to watch Riley, an innocent girl, go through so much grief and frame it in a way where she is being victimised my little sentient people who have more free will than she does. This film is loved because it is so colourful and the characters are appealing but it was like watching a well made advert. I'd give it stars, because it made sense, was well written, and made me feel an emotion.

This book is wonderfully written and flows like poetry. The characters are 3 dimenential, and the book is full of patterns and details, which the author is careful not to point out immediately. The characters have complex thought processes but it would have been nice to have left a bit more to the reader to pick up. The book itself is not pretentious, the characters are all highly educated nerds so of course they are going to sound pretentious and cringey at times, but they are great tools at moving the story forward. 9/10.
