I found this movie frustrating. While the themes of white privilege, black culture, and our broken criminal justice system can and should be discussed through film, this movie appears to be so reductionist. It plays as if being black is all there is to a black person. It doesn't drive any kind of plot, just fights about race setting up scenes for overwhelming, cheaply manufactured drama.
Altogether, it takes race from being the theme of the movie, to all the movie is. And not giving the black characters any development other than them being black. It isn't eloquent, I wish it was.
