The Larkins was a huge disappointment Although Ma and Pa were convincing, no-one else was. The acting and presentation of story lines was poor. The original series was very much like the book, warm, cosy and comforting. Bearing in mind that The Larkins is based on the book, it didn’t come close on many levels. Remembering that this was 1950s, from experience,life was very different. I feel that including several people of colour not necessarily relevant in every case at this time in a tiny Kent village. I am not racist at all, I might add. I felt it was more about being politically correct. I watched the whole series to try and be converted, but I’m sorry, it was poor. I hope there won’t be a 2nd series, because I and friends of mine won’t be tuning in.
