Loved it. I was hoping for a different ending but there was still light at the end of the tunnel for the central character. Very moving and poignant film and statement against war and nationalism and young people being pushed to enlist by parents against
their own beliefs and values....
particularly when it involves neighbouring countries. The music was beautiful as was the cinematography despite being in black and white - which lended authenticity to the period in which it was set....just after WWI......and acted as a metaphor for the rigid views of each country towards "the enemy" The film will give much pleasure to lovers of art, music and poetry.
