I truly admire people who are able to rise after they have had to leave their home, their land, all their belongins. What I read of Salt Houses is filled with beautiful descriptions not only of the places, foods, traditions but also of the thoughts and behaviours of the main characters. I chose not to continue reading because I feel that these wonderful family members will soon face dire circunstances. To me this is heartbreaking and it is when I vehemently dream of peace and justice for all people.
