It’s very misogynistic. The idea is very unoriginal and the author tries to give plot twists that don’t really work. It has a lot of misogyny and while the main character tries to appear a badass, she is the really cringe. The girls are seen as an objects by everyone their; one they can throw away if they are not pretty enough. Macon claims he want to marry America but will run off with another girl the second things get hard. Same with America she will just go with aspen anytime things with Maxon go poorly. They also killed off my favorite character, Celeste for absolutely no reason at all. Everything that happens seems so forced. Every time America does something stupid, it makes me want to jump off a bridge because if she took two seconds to think, she would see that she what she is doing is absolutely idiotic. So many parts of the third book and all of the second are obviously there because they want the story to go on but it would be so much butter if they simply didn’t exist. Also the way the girls try to bring each other down is very anti feminist. It teaches young women that other women are their competition and those people are the problem not the obvious misogynistic man that need 35 women trying to get his attention.
