Based on my own experiences this is one of the few war movies that is closer to the truth about what soldiers experience. Closer but not quite there. There is no music playing during contacts.

The world could do with a lot more "soul uplifting" entertainment such as this. Too much action and crime etc, etc. inadvertently conditions our impressionable youth along the wrong paths. We have a lot to answer for!!!

The more you watch this scene, the more you will appreciate the brilliance. The dark side you speak of is just part of the fiction movie.
