I only made it through about 50 reviews, so my apologies to anyone I might be echoing. This movie was not about just Christmas, but so so much more. Marianne Jean-Baptiste was absolutely and irreplaceably brilliant. Her character was written well, but her portrayal was unmatched. She was the heroine of it all. Gibson and Goggins were also perfectly cast. While, yes, we can talk all day about how Santa’s had it up to here, society has created sociopaths set on revenge, military exploitation, consumerism or the naughty, neglected children who have chosen to be victims and bullies, the message at end of this movie has been missed. Santa can’t be taken down. The Christmas spirit, as well as, the fight for just plain decency is on the line. How did you miss that Santa was telling us all, “The good gets what’s coming to them and, now, so do the naughty?” Santa and Dear Ruth Claus have become avengers for the good of society and he has the WHOLE world on his list. No more coal...much, much worse. Only what you deserve. It’s timelessly brilliant.
