The film has a pretty obvious bias in favor of a more left-leaning worldview. This in and of itself is not necessarily unfunny to me. Last Week Tonight has a similar bias and manages to commentate on current events in a funny and poignant way. Death to 2021, however comes across as self-righteous and condescending, with the entire film essentially being iterations of “look how stupid half of the U.S. population is.” All the while, it almost completely fails to acknowledge any shortcomings of more liberal figures and institutions. My issue with this movie isn’t that I disagree with the positions it takes. For the most part I do, in fact, agree. My issue is that I don’t find propaganda to be all that funny.
