This movie was absolutely incredible! for those saying that it showcases Palestinians as terrorists have missed the point of the film. This film, depicts the struggle of the Palestinian people from Israeli settlement. It gets you into the mindset of an individual so torn by conflict and filled with desperation that they believe suicide bombing and martyrdom is their only answer when it is not. This film, opens your mind up to different perspectives and what drives people and their values. It aims it showcase what motivates individuals to get to a place of such suffering that they believe dying is their only option.
Through Said (the protagonist) the director, portrays the potential of human life and the possibility of love. SPOILER: it is heartbreaking at the end when that dosen't happen. Through symbolism and parallelism which is shown to such a great extent within the film, it adds so much meaning. Through scenes such as his last dinner which parallel to the last supper. As well as the bus scenes which juxtapose each other from both the beginning and end of the film, there is an abundance to take away from it.
this film is truly heartbreaking, a film that leaves you numb to the core because you root for hope and change and in the end, it's not carried out the way you want it to. but that's reality, and this concept of realness makes it all the more devasting.
