JD Vance is just another carpetbagger cashing in on the suffering of Appalachians. This is at best a stale characterization of Eastern Kentucky. I am disgusted at the praise heaped on this film by people who have never been to Appalachia but are all to willing to have someone to look down as if we are somehow just too dumb and proud to know better. And let's not forget the fact that casting saw no need to include real Kentuckians and instead went with Amy Adams from Colorado and Glenn Close from Massachusetts. Ron Howard should be ashamed of himself for unleashing this monstrosity on the world and should donate every cent of money he made from it to the people of Eastern Kentucky or he's no better than the robber baron coal tycoons of our past.
