It's a great game to play, however, the story is too simplistic, some of the abilities can be sort off tedious to get or some even useless, but you'll get a lot of skills that you may have many options to choose from during battles. the visuals are nice, looking like a animated 3D manga, but the English voices for the characters are...really off, some are even bad like Musashi himself, some bosses are great and fair to fight but there are others that could frustrate the player. which is mostly recommended to buy healing items even Items that restore your energy meter to use some copy and powers of the different swords that you'll be getting during the journey, otherwise, get used to see the game over screen many times if you're not prepared enough, however, when you die, you can respawn to the beginning of the boss fight with HP and MP maxed. Rescuing the Mystics can be sometimes annoying, but some do reward you when they return to the Anthedon (a large skybound whale that is a magical beast), some of the mystics and villagers that you save can sell you items that can heal your HP and MP almost maxed up, depending how much HP and MP you have the more you level up even give you Items to increase you're stats or even tools that makes exploring dungeons less complicated like Double jump, walk on water climb on some walls, etc. In some dungeons, you have to carry a Maiden, luckily, you can still attack enemies while carrying them, you can also put the maiden down to attack normally, but in the sword of void dungeon, keep an eye on the damsel in distress of the turn, before you know it, an enemy would already grab her and try to take her away. The controls are ok, but there are sometimes when the control sometimes be a little awkward. Gandrake is a forgettable villain, he's basically the square-enix version of Shan yu, there are some hints that Musashi and Gandrake has some sort of history, but it wasn't explored. Honestly, if Gandrake was replaced with Kojiro Sasaki, nobody would barely noticed. Personally, Musashi: Samurai Legends is one of the best PS2 games with great character designs specially since the character designer was Tetsuya Nomura, yep, the very same who design FF characters as well some KH characters and TWEWY characters as well, However, Musashi Samurai Legends is not the greatest game Square-Enix made though, especially compare to more polish games the company have even recently, such as the Kingdom hearts series, overall, Musashi Samurai Legend can even stand out to many mediocre RPG games. I do recommend the game for those who loves action RPG games, but, if you're a fan of the Musashi Brave Fencer, game, you might have some divided experience with this reboot.
