I just finished the season no more than 10 minutes ago and I can say this: it definitely needs a season 2. I will admit, the show was good and then it got worse as it progressed. It started off with a nerdy teen boy (which I liked because Steven wasn’t the typical scrawny kid but kinda fit), then he became the know-it-all who needed to become the hero, and then I feel like his character completely went off pace and was something totally different by the end of the show. That’s the same with all the characters. I couldn’t trust the perspective I had of one character because they’d be different by the end of the show. And I’m not talking character development but it’s like the characters just kept changing. Another thing was the lack of attention to the relationships. I really liked John and Cara together and did not want her and Steven together at all. I actually wanted Steven with Astrid, and maybe even Cassie when I saw their chemistry. But he kind of ended up with no one, or Cara, but the love didn’t seem there. I also really hated Jedikiah’s character. I hate that he went from the bad guy to the good guy to the bad guy again. His motive and his goals were unstable and never clear. I also really hated what the show turned into. It was really cool to see a bunch of underground people with powers work against the madman with a double agent. It then turned into “oooh freedom! We can do what we want now!” I feel like adding that aspect in was really pointless. But I still want a season 2, because I think that the creators need a chance to tie up the loose ends. I’d like to see John and Astrid’s relationship progress even though I don’t want them together, I’d also like to see what Jedikiah decides to do with John and his new powers and how that situation will be resolved, I want Steven to learn his powers more because I feel like there’s more possibilities and scenarios that could be played with, and I would also like another appearance from The Founder because there’s no way he can be thrown into the other universe and be completely forgotten about.

For once, I really really loved it! I’ve always been a big fan of supernatural themed shows and this somehow was one of them. From the werewolves, to the magicians, to Clay and his spark of humor...I loved it all! I was a little sad that there were no vamps though, but the show totally made up for it. But I will admit that in the beginning, I was a little judgy. I didn’t understand Jack and why he had so much personality. At the start, I figured he’d be this shy character who discovers a world of magic when in fact, he’s funny and confident and might I say...cocky. In the end, he became one of my favorite characters. Also, I just really hated the ending, I’m not going to spoil anything for anyone but I can say that it made me very sad. I expected something more, especially with Jack and Alyssa. So that was a bit disappointing. But I can say, it left my mind wondering for more and I can’t wait until season two comes out!
