NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS FROM PLAYING CP2077 ON THE BASE XBOX ONE. AS SUCH, IT LEAVES OUT BUGS, GLITCHES, AND PERFORMANCE ISSUES TO BE "FAIR"!!!
Cyberpunk 2077 is (when it works) a good game that has a solid story, memorable characters, and, most importantly, gives a "cyberpunk" feel. There are MANY different clothes for V (your character) to choose from, as well as having a wide variety of weapons and weapon mods. If you want a character with a ton of cyberware (of which only the cyberware for your arms and hands actually show), you can. On consoles (mainly base Xbox One and PS4), it's still fairly glitchy, so if you want a (mostly) complete experience, either wait until it's patched or buy it for PC or next-gen consoles. But if you just want to play the game even with its problems, then go ahead.
Now for my complaints. (DEEP INHALE) With Cyberpunk 2077, while it does a fairly good job at recreating the Cyberpunk 2020 source material, there are some aspects that could've been implemented in some way. For example, you could give your character in CP2020 just about any piece of cyberware that any NPC has. In CP2077, V cannot acquire ANY cosmetic cyberware, despite one of the main features of the Cyberpunk world is that cyberware has become a MAJOR part of fashion trends. On a related note, why is it that we can't change V's appearance after Character Creation despite the fact that the technology to do so was available in CP2020 (55 YEARS prior), when there were even poser gangs that had surgery to look like specific people? The "wanted" system needs a COMPLETE rework! Law enforcement shouldn't instantly teleport where you're not looking as soon as you kill a civilian. They should arrive in respective vehicles (police car for standard police officers, armored vans for advanced officers, and AV for MAX-TAC) and chase you in said vehicles when you try to drive away. One minor issue is the first-person camera position in some of the vehicles is too low, making it hard to see what is in front of me. (EXHALE).
Well, that's my review. I complained about things that are by design, not by accident. It's up to you (the reader possibly considering buying Cyberpunk 2077) to decide whether you should get it now or wait until it's patched to an "acceptable" state. Me? I'm enjoying it, and hope that the things I complained about are fixed/added in the near (hopefully not dark) future.
