Kind of like Revenant, only instead of a bear and Leonardo DiCaprio, you watch Millie Bobby Brown cry out in pain for an hour, while a dragon chases her.
The plot and the ending can be deduced from the first 10 minutes of the film, partly thanks to the somewhat redundant "prologue" scene, which practically strips the movie of almost all mystery, and in addition, it is shown again later, only with a little more (obvious) details.
Apart from the CGI, which is decent, the most striking are probably the costumes, some of which are nice, although nothing special and some were apparently scavenged from other productions (GoT), However, you won't find anything very original here, and Brown has exaggerated make-up in certain scenes, which was probably meant to emphasize that she's a "damsel", but it comes across as a bit ridiculous, especially while she complains about her subjects dying of cold and hunger.
This is a "woke movie", so all the men here are weak, evil, or incompetent, the main character's mother is dead and the father seems like an alcoholic while the demographics of the world copy California.
I would also add that the film itself does not know whether it is for adults or for children. The naive simplicity of the story and environment alternates with quite graphic violence and even mild gore.
In short, it's a pretty subpar fantasy, but if you don't have anything better to do, it's watchable.
