Much of this movie rings true. Don't think for a second, that the management of American companies don't have these attitudes towards hourly workers, engage in union busting, violate environmental and safety regulations or look to automation to maximize profits. The real difference between the Chinese and Americans is that the two cultures are at different stages of societal evolution. In earlier generations, Americans worked long hours and being dedicated to their company was the norm. Just as the Chinese worker stated, they used to worry only about food on the table and their kids, now they want more. Americans have grown used to wanting more... more pay, more free time, more input on how the job is done, etc. I think this is as it should be, as technology improves our lives, we should have more time for the pursuit of happiness and creative endeavors and less need to perform manual tasks. The real challenge is to figure out an acceptable method of distributing wealth in the face of potentially fewer jobs.
