I was very excited to hear of the release of a third game of the LIS series; I really enjoyed playing and became attached to LIS 1, 2, and before the storm lol.
!Spoilers!
There are likable characters, and I like how the protagonist can be relatable to people who have been in her position in foster care. I also like the love interests. The visuals are fantastic as always, nothing to complain about there. The voice acting is great too along with the story-telling
Other than those things, this game didn't really live up to my expectations if I'm being honest.
The previous LIS games were very much focused on relationships and trust and stuff like that, but I didn't really feel that in this game. I also feel like exploration was limited. You could really only explore a little bit of your town, your room, and a few other places. There wasn't a lot of diversity when it came to setting, unlike LIS 1 and LIS 2 (especially 2 because you are on the run and get to see many different scenes).
As for characters, I felt that you could connect to the characters(the protagonists) in LIS 1 and 2 a little bit more. I think this is because you feel their trauma as its happening to them. As for the protagonists interacting with other characters, I feel like we had more time to connect and establish good relationships with them in LIS 1 and 2, but I guess I didn't really feel that in this game. I think this is either because this game is short, or the way the characters were written.
I feel there was also more suspense in the other games. I like suspense and tension in games, especially in LIS 1 and LIS 2... there's a lot of it. There's a little tension and suspense in this game but it's kind of predictable. The whole "powerful rich evil company" thing was kinda predictable too, I kinda already knew they were the enemy before the game started hinting at it. It was also a little generic too because I kinda compare it to the Prescotts in LIS1, they are a rich family who has power over the school.
One thing that's the makes me the most disappointed in the music. Personally, one of the main things I loved about LIS 1 and 2 was the fantastic soundtrack. Without it, I feel I wouldn't have loved the games as much as I do. I feel like whoever picked out songs in this game could've done a little better job. The only music I kinda liked in this game was the instrumental music & the songs by Novo Amor... aka the menu screen music. Some of the songs weren't indie alt at all, and I feel like that's a very identifiable thing when it comes to the LIS games. Also, there wasn't a lot of music in this game anyway, or actual songs by artists to be exact. Idk if it was because of copyright orrr... idk but 2 and 1 had more.
Another disappointment is the fact that Steph from Before The Storm was in this game and did not mention anything about her hometown or Chloe at all. When I saw the trailer I was really excited because I thought maybe the protagonist could hear about something in the 1st game, whether it be Chloe, the school, or Steph's other friend (I forgot his name). I assumed this because that's was David did in LIS 2. Based on the players choices in LIS 1, David could talk to Sean about Chloe being killed and the town saved, or her being alive and the town destroyed... and all of his traumatic background. But nothing. I thought that would've been a little cool side-story thing.
